The Alzheimer Society is a leading source of funds for Alzheimer research in Canada, investing, together with its partners, $2 million annually to support the search for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, and improve the lives of those affected. Committed to supporting research into all aspects of Alzheimer’s disease, the Alzheimer Society provides grants and training awards that fund research at Canadian universities and hospitals and help nurture new talent. Canadian researchers supported by the Alzheimer Society have made major advances, including discoveries related to genetic causes of the disease.
The Society places equal importance on biomedical research that provides insights into the disease, and on quality of life research that leads to improvements in Alzheimer care. New developments are encouraging. But there is still an urgent need to increase support for Alzheimer research.
